Garden Beginnings

I'm getting my container garden started for another year.

Last year was our first year and it went pretty well, but this year I was able to anticipate problems that I had last year...and plan accordingly for this year.

For instance, last year, the spot that I had the buckets in was full-on full-force sun all day long. It burned out my plants. So this year I am settng up my back porch to hold all of the containers and buckets. They'll still get plenty of sunshine but not quite as harsh.

A couple of my herb plants survived the winter and are blooming again this year.

My sweet mint is looking beautiful!

My parsley is beginning to peek out!

I bought 2 of these plastic half-barrels but I want to go back and buy one or two more.
I am going to plant a blueberry bush in each one and I want one for my strawberry plants.

They are $20 each at my local Home Depot.

Look at this cute little blueberry! The first one on this plant!

This blueberry bush is growing lots of babies!

I got my blueberry bushes on sale at Home Depot a couple of weeks ago for 2 for $10.

Strawberries!!! A couple of these little guys are already starting to produce fruit!

I got them on sale (yesterday) for 4 for $10.

I think that's a pretty good deal!

I might go back and buy a few more strawberry plants because my kids love eating them as snacks (Levi even eats the leaves on the strawberry) and putting them in smoothies.

So that's all I have for now for my garden.

I think I am going to go back and buy a couple of zucchini plants and yellow squash plants. And I'd like to grow some green and red bell peppers.

I don't know what else I should try.... We grew tons of tomatoes last year, but they mostly went t waste because we didn't eat them (they had weird brown spirals burned into them). We didn't like edamame. And our banana pepper plant and cucumber plants didn't produce much at all. We actually didn't get to eat anything from our cucumber plants.

What do you grow in your garden?
