I Don't Have A Microwave

You read that right.

We don't own a microwave.

We haven't had one in years.

It all started because ours broke and we didn't have money to buy a new one.
(shut up. stop laughing. hahaha)

So I decided to just give it a go, on not owning one.

And, you know what? Life didn't end.

Our food actually tastes so much better when we reheat it on the stove or in the oven.

Because...duh...that's how you do it when you don't have a microwave.

Yeah, it takes a little longer and requires more planning than just popping a dish in the microwave.

(Besides...see how much sexier it is to cook on the stove?? hahaha)

The more I thought about it...microwaves just didn't seem right.

You can tell oftentimes when food has been microwaved.

Chicken is rubbery.

There are odd hot spots and uneven cooking.

Not to mention how much it is emphasized that you should never, ever, ever heat formula or breastmilk in a microwave.

So, yeah, I don't miss my microwave at all. Antonio actually had a customer of ours offer a beautiful microwave to us as a tip (that's how we roll, yo...free microwaves up in here!! lol)...but we turned it down. I feel like my stove- & oven-warmed food is much more nutritious.

Then I saw this article...and it turns out I might be on to something:

"One example comes from 2003. A study published in The Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture examined what microwaves do to broccoli, finding that broccoli, after being microwaved, lost up to 97 percent of its beneficial antioxidants. By comparison, when researchers steamed broccoli, they discovered that it only lost 11 percent or fewer of its antioxidants."

Do you think there's any credibility to this study and/or article?

Would you ever consider giving up your microwave?
