No More Binkies!!

Okay, so I know that there are a lot of Snarky McSnarkSnark's that will make all sorts of comments about the fact that we allowed our youngest sons to have binkies (pacifiers) until last week...making them almost-4 and 5 years old, respectively.

Not that I feel any sort of desire to "defend" myself...because, yo...they're MY kids. But, still, they were doing pretty good at just using them at naptime and bedtime. For awhile. But then they began sneaking them off of the dresser (the appointed place where binkies went to rest during the day) more and more...and we found ourselves looking for lost binkies almost every single day.

So, this past week, I had a revelation.

"Hey, guys! Guess what?! Each little boy that decides to stop using thier binkies and throws them away...they get a toy surprise AND a sweet treat!"

Dude.

They were all over it.

Without so much as a glance back, they gave them up.

Even when they get "boo boos" from being all rough and tumble, they haven't asked to use their binkie. When woke up in the middle of the night with bad dreams: no asking for the binkie.

I had no clue it would be that easy, given how attached they were to theirs.

Christian gave his up when he was around 4...without any promise of a toy or treat...I just told him "no more binky" and that was that. He was always so easy-going.

I expected MUCH more of a fight from Levi and Austin.

Here's what happened the LAST time I tried to restrict their "binky time" to only allowing their binkies when they were sitting on the couch (yeah, that makes no sense to me anymore, either....so don't bother asking about my thought process with that one...haha) back in August of 2014.

But that fight never came this time 'round.

In fact, they are begging to throw theirs away so that they can get their toys and treats!

I am so excited with how brave they are....and somewhat sad that they are growing up.

Here are a few "ode to the binky" shots....followed by a full-length video/vlog!

Farewell, binkies.

You were much loved...but it's time to brave the world without you!
