Tinting My Brows At Home
Years ago I learned a tiny little beauty hack that makes a HUGE impact: If you make your brows look well-groomed, it can change the look of your whole face...for the better.
When I lived in Atlanta, I would get my brows tinted with henna and I loved it! My brows always looked so put together.
But when I became a single mom, money got tighter and some things fell to the wayside. Brow tinting was one of those things.
I would faithfully use brow powder to darken and fill them in each morning and didn't use much else makeup. Brows made that much of a difference, in my opinion.
But recently I've been wanting to try tinting my brows...at home. I know many gorgeous girls that have gone the microblading route...but that has never appealed to me. I'm a simple girl, I guess.
But some things scared me when it came to at-home brow tinting...my girlfriend did hers one day while we were on a video call...and she ended up looking like an Angry Bird! Eeek!
I've since read articles and watched other girls do theirs on YouTube...all with great reviews.
So today I took the plunge.
I went to Walmart and picked up some Just For Mustache & Beard dye:
It was super easy to mix up. I used a little eyeliner brush that I never used before to apply it:
Here are my brows before:
It was also very easy to apply the dye to my brows with the brush. I used q-tips to clean up any rogue dye that got on my skin.
With the dye on:
I only left it on for 5 minutes....it was starting to look super dark.
Here's how my brows look after:
I think they turned out pretty good! I do wish that I had left the dye on a bit longer....I wish they were a little darker. I'll leave it on longer next time.
A tip that I picked up along the way: don't pluck your brows beforehand. Dye them and then pluck them afterwards. Some people say to wait a few days before plucking them just to let them "settle in".
What do you think: should I have gone a bit darker??
